1. How to enable and use Color Palettes

In case you never knew, color palettes is a unique new feature that launched officially with Android 12, and what it does is it automatically chooses color profiles for you based on the wallpaper applied.

So, for instance, if you have a wallpaper that has a mixture of red and green colors, when activated, your app icons, menus, and buttons will all inherit their colors from those colors on your wallpaper.

Sounds cool, right?

And how do you activate this feature on your Galaxy A52 smartphone?

Well, it’s simple.

  • While on your phone’s home screen, simply tap and hold on to an empty space.
  • You will get a roll of options at the bottom of your screen, simply tap on the one that says “Wallpaper and style“.
  • Now, tap on “Color Palette“.
  • And from there, you can select any one of the palettes from the five options shown to you.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Take note that the first one is the default option.

And after doing that, you should see the changes applied across your phone’s entire UI in real-time.

2. How to change your lock screen clock style

If for any reason, you don’t like the default clock style on your phone’s lock screen, well, it’s a good thing there’s a way you can change that, and Samsung even gives you lots of options to choose from.

And here’s to do that.

  • Simply go to your phone’s settings page, and tap on the “Lock screen” option.
  • Tap on “Clock style“.
  • And from here, you can choose the style you want from digital to analog clocks, and you can even change the color options.

3. How to use your own photos for the “Always On Display” screen

Samsung is one of the earliest adopters of the Always On Display feature on its smartphones, and as such, they give you a handful of customization options that can be done to it, such as changing the clock style and even allowing you to use a custom photo for it.

And here’s how to do that on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to “Lock screen“.
  • Now, go to “Always On Display“, and make sure it’s enabled by tapping the toggle button in front of it if it wasn’t.
  • Now, from the Always On Display page, go to “Clock style“, and select “Image clock“.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • And finally, from there, you can literally use images from anywhere to use as your Always On Display.
  • So, simply select where you want to get your image from, customize it as much as you want, and when you’re done, tap “Done“, and of course, you’re done.

4. How to blur or hide your background during video calls

If you’re big on privacy and don’t want the person at the other end of the line to see your background during video calls, well, thankfully, there’s a way you can do that on the Galaxy A52 phone.

Advertisements

And this feature is supported on major social media apps that you’re most likely going to be using for video calls such as; WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Google Duo.

More guides

With this feature enabled, you can either choose to blur the background, or apply an image or color overlay to it, and here’s how to enable it on your phone.

  • Go to your settings page, and go to the “Advanced features“.
  • Go to the “Video call effects” option, and make sure it’s enabled by tapping the toggle button in front of it.
  • From the video call effects settings page, you can choose a color overlay for your background, or even use an image.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • The background blur effect will be shown to you while using any of the listed supported apps during video calls.
  • So, after setting your options, during video calls, you will get a button on your screen, from where you can select the video call effect you want, whether it’s the Blur, Color, or Image option.

5. How to change your incoming call display screen (and even use a video instead)

Now, aside from changing your video call background effects, another cool trick you can perform on your Galaxy A52 phone is changing the incoming call display screen or background, to something like this.

And here’s to do it on your Galaxy A52.

  • Open the “Phone” app on your phone.
  • While in there, tap on the three-dot menu button at the right edge of your screen, and go to “Settings“.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Tap on “Call Background“, and if you have multiple SIM cards on your phone, simply select the SIM you want to apply the settings to.
  • Now, from the new page, tap on the “Background” option at the bottom of your screen.
  • And from here, you can select a new background from any of the above-listed ones, or you can tap on the “+” icon at the top right corner of your screen to even add your own custom backgrounds.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

6. How to change how incoming calls behave & display when you’re using an app

By default, incoming calls will take up the full screen on your Samsung Galaxy phone even when you’re using an app. But you can change this, and force incoming calls to only take a small portion of the screen, and not distract or stop you from whatever app you’re using at the moment.

Advertisements

And here’s how to do that on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • Once again, open the “Phone” app on your phone, tap on the three-dot menu button, and go to “Settings“.
  • From the settings page, tap on the “Call display while using apps” option.
  • And from there, you can select how you want incoming calls to display the next time you’re using an app on your phone from “Full screen” to “Small pop-up” and even a “Mini pop-up” screen.

So, after setting this, the next time you get a call on your phone while using an app, the settings you chose will be applied automatically.

7. How to hide apps

One common thing I’ve seen a lot of people do on their smartphones is hiding sensitive apps, most especially, apps that contain login and bank details, and it’s a good thing that Samsung has included this feature on its smartphones by default, so you don’t have to download a separate third-party app for it.

And here’s how to hide apps on your Samsung Galaxy A52 phone.

  • Go to your phone’s home screen, and tap and hold an empty space.
  • From the roll of options shown to you at the bottom of your screen, go to “Settings“.
  • And from the settings page, go to “Hide apps“.
  • Now from there, simply select any app or apps that you wish to be hidden, and when you’re done selecting them, tap “Done” at the bottom of your screen.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • When you’ve done so, any app that you selected to be hidden will be automatically removed from your app drawer.

To access and make use of hidden apps, you’ll first have to go back and unhide the app, as unfortunately, there is no easy way to make use of apps when they’re hidden.

8. How to play media on multiple Bluetooth-connected devices at once

With the Galaxy A52, A52s, and A52 5G phones, you can output or play the same media on multiple Bluetooth-connected speakers at the same time.

Sounds cool, right?

And here’s how to do that on your smartphone.

  • First of all, connect the two Bluetooth speakers to your smartphone, and start playing media as you would normally do.
  • Now, drag down your phone’s notification drawer, and tap on “Media output“.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • And right there, you will get the option to select the second Bluetooth-connected device to output media from it too.
  • And you can even control their volume levels independently.

And that way, you can be watching a video on your phone while the sound plays out from two different Bluetooth speakers at the same time. Makes sense if you and your friends are seeing a movie on your phone, but with different personal earbuds.

9. How to play separate app sounds on separate devices on your Galaxy A52

Now, aside from playing the same media on separate devices at once on your Galaxy A52 smartphone, another thing you can do on your phone is to play sounds from separate apps at once on separate audio devices.

For instance, let’s say you’re streaming music using any of your favorite music streaming apps and browsing Instagram at the same time, you can set the music streaming to output over your connected Bluetooth speaker if you have one, and set sounds from the Instagram app to output from the phone’s speaker.

That way, your music doesn’t have to stop whenever you come across a video or anything that has sound on the Instagram app.

Advertisements

Sounds cool, right?

And here’s how to activate the feature on your Samsung Galaxy A52, A52s, and A52 5G phones.

  • First of all, go to your phone’s settings page, and go to the “Sounds and vibration” settings.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, and tap on the “Separate app sound” setting option.
  • Make sure it’s turned on.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Now, tap on the first option that says “App“, and you can select any app you want or even add your own if the one you’re looking for isn’t there by default.
  • Now, go back, and select the second option, “Audio device“.
  • And from here, you can select where you want audio from the apps you just selected to be outputted from.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • And that’s all.

So, the next time you’re making use of an app that you selected for separate app sounds, the settings will be automatically applied when sound is being played on it.

10. How to increase the fingerprint reader speed and accuracy

Since the first day that Samsung introduced under-display fingerprint readers on its devices starting with the Galaxy S10 series, one complaint that has remained dominant is the fact that the under-display readers are not as fast as the traditional physical fingerprint readers, and 5 times out of 10, they tend to fail to properly recognize your fingers, which results to failed unlocking attempts.

And the Galaxy A52(s) are not exempted from this, because, as you know, it also uses an under-display fingerprint reader.

But today, I’ll be showing you how you can solve this problem once and for all, and that is by simply registering same finger twice on the device, and disabling the unlocking animations.

And to see a complete step-by-step guide on how you can do that, simply follow the link given below.

11. How to use split-screen multitasking

Split-screen multitasking is one of the earliest features that came to Samsung phones and has since remained dominant up to this day while being even more refined.

With this feature enabled, you can use two apps at the same time with one taking the upper part of the screen, and the other one taking the lower part.

And here’s how to use it on your Galaxy A52 phones.

  • First of all, start by opening an app on your phone.
  • Now, go to the recent apps menu by pressing the recent apps button or simply use the swipe up and hold gesture if you have gesture navigation enabled.
  • At the top of each app’s card, you should see the app’s icon.
  • Tap on it, and you’ll be given a list of options.
  • For the supported apps, you will see “Open in split-screen view” among the options.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Simply tap on it, and next, you’ll be required to select the second app that you want to use together with the first one in split-screen mode.
  • Simply select the app, and you’re done.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

That way, you can run two applications at once without having to switch back and forth from one app to the other.

12. How to open apps in a pop-up view

Apart from split-screen, another intelligent way you can multitask on your Samsung phone is by using the pop-up view feature which works in the same way as multitasking on a Windows computer or any Desktop environment.

Advertisements

And again, unlike the split-screen multitasking mode where you’re limited to just two apps at a time, on the Pop-up view, you can open as many as you want, for as long as they can fit into your phone’s screen.

So, how do you get it activated?

Simple.

  • Once again, go to your recent apps menu by pressing the recent apps button or using the swipe up and hold gesture.
  • Tap on the app icon located on the top of each app’s card, and you’ll be same list of options you were given in the last section above.
  • And from there, simply tap the “Open in pop-up view” option, and the app will shrink to an appropriate size.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • You can increase the size of the app if you want to, open it in full screen, move it around, etc.
  • And you can keep opening as many apps as you want to in the pop-up view mode.

13. How to take screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy A52, A52s, & A52 5G phones

Again, one common thing I’ve seen people do a lot on their smartphones is taking screenshots, in order to view or share them later.

And today, I’ll be showing you how you can do this on your Samsung Galaxy A52 phone, and in three different methods

  • First is by using the volume down and power keys;
  • Second is using the Samsung “Assistant Menu” feature;
  • And third, is by using the “Swipe to capture” gesture.

To see all of these, simply follow the link below to see how you can start taking screenshots on your Samsung Galaxy A52 smartphone.

14. How to capture the entire page or an app or webpage at once in one screenshot

Do you know you can capture an entire webpage from the top to the bottom without having to take multiple screenshots?

Well, now you know, and this feature is called the scrolling screenshot on Samsung phones, and here’s what it looks like.

Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

Looks cool right, and here’s how to do the same thing on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • Simply start by taking a regular screenshot on your phone.
  • Now, from the screenshot toolbar shown to you at the bottom part of your phone’s screen, simply tap on the icon with a downward pointing arrow.
  • That way, the page will automatically scroll down and be captured.
  • Keep tapping on this icon till you’ve captured as much of the page as you want, and save the screenshot.

And there you have it, you now have the screenshot of an entire webpage or an app, all in one take.

15. How to enable “Extra Dim” to further lower your screen brightness at night

For people who are very sensitive to light, especially at night, and feel that their phone’s screen is still too bright for them even after bringing the brightness down to its lowest level, well, there is an option on the Galaxy A52 that lets you bring it down even further more than its lowest level, and this feature is called the “Extra Dim“, introduced with One UI 4.1.

  • So, kindly go to your settings page, and go to “Accessibility“.
  • From accessibility, go to “Visibility enhancements“.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the “Extra dim” option with a toggle button in front of it.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Now, go ahead and tap on the button to get it activated.
  • And to further adjust things, you can tap on the option itself to see its own independent settings options, from where you can either increase or reduce the intensity of the screen dimming.

And that way, you can make your screen as dim as possible at night.

16. How to extend your RAM by an additional 8GB, making it 14GB

One feature that has just appeared recently on Android phones, and one which Samsung has taken no time to adopt on its phones is the RAM extension feature.

With this, you can assign an amount from your phone’s internal storage to act as the RAM in case you’re running out of resources, and on Samsung phones, this feature is called “RAM Plus“.

Advertisements

So, for instance, let’s say your phone comes with a default RAM capacity of 6GB, with the RAM extension feature, you can double this amount by an additional 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, and even 8GB, making the total RAM capacity to be up to 14GB.

And here’s how to do it.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to the “Battery and device care” setting option.
  • From there, go to the “Memory” option.
  • You should see the “RAM Plus” option at the bottom of the page.
  • Tap on it, and you’ll be given the freedom to choose how much additional RAM you want to add to the already existing RAM capacity from 2GB, all the way up to 8GB.

If you have a Windows computer and find yourself always going back to your phone from your computer and vice versa, especially when you want to reply to messages or use an app on your phone, well, with the “Link to Windows” feature, you no longer have to do that, as you can now reply to messages, use apps on your phone, make phone calls, control music playback, and even transfer files from your phone to the computer and vice versa, all without leaving the computer.

And here’s how to get it activated on your Samsung Galaxy A52 phone.

  • First of all, you have to make sure that your computer is running anything from Windows 10 and above.
  • Also, make sure that your phone and computer are connected to the same WiFi network.
  • Now, go to the Microsoft app store on your computer, and download the “Phone Link” app.
  • Open the app on your computer, and you’ll be asked if your phone is an iPhone or an Android phone, of course, select “Android“.
  • Next, you’ll be required to sign in with your Microsoft account and make sure this is the same account used on your phone.
  • Now, go to your phone settings page, go to “Advanced features“, and go to “Link to Windows” and make sure it’s activated.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • After that, sign in using the same Microsoft account you used in signing in on your computer.
  • Go back to your computer, and on the pairing page, select the “I have the Link to Windows app ready“, and select the “Pair manually” option.
  • A unique 9-digit code will be auto-generated for you.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Now, go back to the “Link to Windows” page on your phone, and tap on the “Add computer” option.
  • Tap “Continue“, and on the next page, simply enter the 9-digit code from your computer, and both devices will be paired.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

After doing all that, you can start interacting with your phone from your computer by doing stuff like sending and replying to messages, seamlessly transferring files across both devices with drag and drop, making and receiving phone calls, controlling music playback, and even using apps installed on your phone, right there on your PC.

One advantage of using Link to Windows on your smartphone and computer is the fact that the initial setup is a one-time process, and you no longer have to go through that long process again the next time you want to link your phone to your computer, as both devices will automatically talk to each other once the feature is turned on on the phone, and they’re both connected to the same WiFi network.

18. How to use the Samsung “Quick Share” feature to seamlessly share files across multiple Samsung devices

“Quick Share” is Samsung’s own version of the popular Apple Airdrop feature where you can seamlessly transfer files across two devices.

Advertisements

And just like the Airdrop that only works across two or more Apple devices, Quick Share can only work across two or more Samsung smartphones as well.

If you want a similar feature that works across all Android smartphones regardless of the brand, then that will be the native Android’s Nearby Share feature, but that will be a topic for another day.

So, with the Quick Share feature enabled, you can transfer files faster between two Samsung devices, such as from a Samsung phone to a Samsung phone, or a Samsung laptop to a Samsung phone, and vice versa.

And here’s how to get the feature activated and ready on your Galaxy A52 phone.

Advertisements

First of all, if you’re the one sending, you have to ask the other party to turn on Quick Share on their phone, and make themselves discoverable, and here’s how to do that.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to “Advanced features“.
  • Locate and tap on “Quick Share“, and change the “Who can share with you” option to “Anyone nearby“.
  • Alternatively, you can simply pull down your notifications tray by swiping from the top of your phone, and from the quick setting toggles, locate “Quick Share”, tap on it, and change the default options accordingly.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

Once Quick share has been turned on and ready to receive files, now it’s time to start sharing the said files.

  • So, locate a file that you want to share, let’s say, a photo from the gallery app.
  • Tap on the Share icon, and select the “Quick Share” option.
  • Your phone will start scanning for nearby devices, and when found, simply tap on the device you want to share the file to, and ask the receiver to accept the incoming file on their device.
  • And just like that, the file will be transferred to their device without any hiccups.

And if you’re the one receiving, simply follow the steps above to set up Quick Share on your device while the sender sends his/her files over to you using the same steps listed above.

19. How to hide your mobile hotspot connection so it can’t be seen by anyone

To stop people from tapping into your hotspot connection, and using up your internet bundle, one thing I always do is to hide the Hotspot visibility.

This way, even when someone searches for the available Hotspot connections around you, they will not see yours, and here’s how to do that on your Samsung Galaxy A52 phone.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to the “Connections” settings.
  • Tap on “Mobile Hotspot and Tethering
  • Tap on “Mobile Hotspot” again to go into the settings option.
  • Tap “Configure“, and tap on “Advanced” to expand it.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page until you see the “Hidden network” option with a toggle button in front of it.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • Simply tap on this button, press “Save“, and your Hotspot will be hidden from the prying eyes of the public.

If you want to connect one of your own devices or a trusted device, you can do so by manually entering the Hotspot name (SSID) and password on the device, and it will be connected without exposing your Hotspot to the rest.

20. How to automatically save app usernames and passwords, addresses, and more with Samsung Pass

Some of the things people easily forget on their smartphones are usernames, passwords, credit and debit card details, etc.

Advertisements

Formerly, to counter this problem, you’ll have to download a separate password manager app from the Play Store, but with the Samsung Pass app pre-installed on the A52 smartphone, you no longer have to download a third-party app for it.

So, with the feature enabled, once you create a new account on any website or app, you’ll be given the option to save the login details (username & password) of that account to Samsung Pass on your phone, and the next time you try logging in to the app or website, the phone will automatically fetch those login details for you.

It also works for credit and debit card details as once you have input your card details in any app or website, the next time you try doing the same action, your card details will be automatically fetched for you.

Advertisements

And here’s how to get the Samsung Pass feature enabled on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • First of all, locate the Samsung Pass app from your app drawer, or simply by going to your phone’s settings page, go to “Biometrics and security“, and go to “Samsung Pass“.
  • You’ll be asked to sign in to your Samsung account, and also sign in to the Samsung Pass using your biometrics (fingerprint).
  • That way, you’re basically done with the setup.

But there’s one limitation though, and that is the fact that the Samsung Pass feature doesn’t work with most popular web browsers such as Chrome, and even most third-party apps.

But whenever you find yourself on a supported app, for instance, it works flawlessly with the Binance wallet app installed on my phone.

So, whenever you happen to find yourself on a supported app, after entering a username, password, home address, or card details for the first time, you’ll be prompted to save the details in the Samsung Pass.

And once you’ve done so, the next time you need to enter any of such details again on the app, Samsung Pass will automatically fetch and enter them for you.

21. How to backup your data to the Samsung Cloud services

Samsung Cloud is a feature that lets you backup data such as apps, call logs, messages, contacts, your phone settings, notes taken with Samsung notes, etc, to the Samsung Cloud services, and restore them on the same device whenever needed, or even on another Samsung device.

Advertisements

And here’s how to backup your data with the Samsung Cloud services on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • First of all, locate the “Samsung Cloud” app icon from your app drawer, or simply go into your phone’s settings page > Samsung account > Samsung Cloud.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • If you’re using it for the first time, you might be asked to log in to your Samsung account.
  • And after that, you can select “Back up data” at the bottom of the page to start backing up your data, or “Restore data” to restore previously backed up data.

22. How to temporarily disable biometrics login on your Samsung Galaxy A52, using the Lockdown mode

Lockdown mode is a feature that lets you temporarily disable all forms of biometric security login on your phone, and the phone can only be unlocked using a PIN or password.

So, let’s say you live among friends or family members who always find a way to unlock your phone when you’re sleeping, perhaps by simply taking your finger and placing it on the fingerprint scanner.

Well, with the lockdown mode enabled, the fingerprint scanner and face unlock will be disabled, and the phone can only be unlocked with your preset PIN or password.

Advertisements

Sounds cool, right?

And here’s how to activate it on your Samsung Galaxy A52, A52s, and A52 5G phones.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to the “Lock screen” settings option.
  • Go to “Secure lock settings“, and enter your password or PIN when required to do so.
  • Now, you should see the “Show Lockdown option” with a toggle button in front of it, simply tap on this button to get it activated.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks
  • So, the next time you want to enable lockdown mode on your phone, simply press the power button until it brings up the power menu options.
  • From there, tap “Lockdown mode“, and the feature will be activated, after which you can go to bed knowing full well that no one can have access to your phone using your biometrics while you’re asleep.
  • Lockdown mode will be automatically deactivated the next time you unlock your phone.

23. How to change the power button function on your phone (disable it from turning off your phone)

One thing I like to do on my Samsung phones the moment I take them out of the box is to disable the power button by simply changing its function.

That way, even if someone happens to steal my phone, there will be no way for them to turn it off, which buys me more time to track their location with Android’s “Find My Device” feature.

And here’s how to do this on your Galaxy A52 smartphone.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to “Advanced features“.
  • Locate the “Side key” option, and tap on it.
  • And from the side key settings page, simply set the “Press and hold” option to “Wake Bixby“, instead of the default “Power off menu“.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

And to turn off your phone or access the power menu after enabling this feature, all you have to do is;

  • Pull down the notifications drawer by swiping down twice from the top of your phone.
  • And among the quick setting toggles, you will see the power icon, and when tapped, reveals the power menu from where you can turn off or restart your phone.

24. How to lock the network & security options when your phone is locked

I like to enable this feature alongside the disable power key feature, and what it does is, when activated, if someone happens to take your phone while it is locked, then such person cannot turn on or off the network and security settings such as the internet connection, WiFi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, etc.

Advertisements

So, if someone happens to steal my phone with this feature enabled, and the power button disabled, I can easily track them to their exact location for as long as my phone remains connected to the internet, and they can’t do anything to turn it off, or even turn off the phone.

And here’s how to lock your network and security settings on your Samsung Galaxy A52 when it’s locked.

  • Once again, go to your settings page, and go to the “Lock screen” setting option.
  • As you did before, go to the “Secure lock settings” option, and enter your PIN or password to gain access.
  • Now, simply locate the “Lock network and security” option and tap the toggle button in front of it to turn it on, and you’re done.
Samsung Galaxy A52 Android tips and tricks

So, with the feature enabled, whenever your phone is locked and you try turning on or off the network settings from the quick setting toggles, you’ll first be required to unlock it before you can do that.

Samsung Galaxy A52 Bixby Tips & Tricks

25. How to set up Bixby routines

Aside from the virtual voice assistant that has received its own fair share of criticism for not being as polished as the native Google Assistant, there are a lot of other useful things you can do with Bixby on Samsung phones, and one of them is setting Bixby routines.

So, with Bixby routines, you can basically set your phone to do different things at different instances, depending on the command.

Advertisements

For instance, I can set the phone to increase the brightness whenever I’m watching videos on the phone, or simply increase and decrease the screen refresh rate from 60 to 120Hz and back when I open certain apps or turn on and off dark mode at certain times of the day, etc.

This way, I no longer have to dig through my phone settings whenever I want to enable or disable any of those options, as Bixby routines will automatically do them for me.

Truth be told, the number of things and commands you can carry out with Bixby routines are literally endless, and today, I’ll be showing you how to set up some of these commands on your Galaxy A52 phone.

How to set up Bixby routines on your Samsung Galaxy A52, A52s, and A52 5G phones.

  • Go to your phone’s settings page, and go to “Advanced features“.
  • From there, locate and go to “Bixby routines“, and make sure it’s turned on.
  • And from the Bixby routines page, you can start adding new routines by tapping on the “Add routine” button at the bottom of your screen.
  • You’ll have two options to play with, the “If” and “Then” options.
    • “If” simply stands for, if this condition is met;
    • While “Then” stands for, then do this.

And here’s one of the routines I love to set whenever I get a new Samsung phone.

26. How to enable & disable automatic screen refresh handling using Bixby routines

By default, the Galaxy A52 and all Samsung mid-range phones do not come with an automatic refresh rate handling as you’d find on the pricier and flagship Galaxy S series.

But with Bixby routines, I can basically tell the phone to ramp up the refresh rate up to 120Hz only when needed on specific apps and ramp it back down to the default 60Hz when I’m done making use of the app.

This way, the high screen refresh rate kicks in only when I need it to, which in return, helps to conserve battery life on my Galaxy A52 phone.

And here’s how you can do that on yours too.

  • So, find your way to the Bixby routines settings page by going to your phone’s settings, going to the “Advanced settings”, and then to “Bixby routines”.
  • Tap on “Add routine”.
  • And for the “If” option, scroll down until you see the “App opened” option, and from here, you can select all the apps you wish to use in the 120Hz screen refresh rate mode.

  • You can even set additional conditions like if “Game is being played” or if “Battery level” is at a particular percentage.
  • So, after setting your “If” options, go back and select the “Then” option, and from here, you can choose what you want the phone to do when any of the conditions set above are met.
  • So, in this case, we’ll go to “Display” > “Motion smoothness“, and set it to “High (120Hz)“.

  • Now, tap on “Next“, input a name, color, and icon for your newly created routine, and press “Done“.

So, the next time any of the conditions you’ve set above are met, such as if a selected app is opened, the screen refresh rate will automatically switch from 60Hz to 120Hz, and vice versa accordingly, without needing you to do or touch anything.
