Overview
To cut the long story short, what Samsung did with the Galaxy A52 was to simply take everything that was good and loved on the A51, and made them even better.
Talk about the display, aside from the fact that you’re still getting the same 6.5 inches Full HD+ AMOLED panel from last year, this time, it now refreshes at a 90Hz high screen refresh rate, and you can even get it to go up to 120Hz if you went for the 5G version of the Galaxy A52.

On top of that, it’s now protected using a Gorilla Glass 5 as opposed to the Gorilla Glass 3 on the A51, and even on top of that, the Samsung Galaxy A52 now gets a proper IP67 rating for ingress protection against water and dust. Something that you don’t get to see on competing mid-range phones from other brands.
Moving further, you get a similar quad-camera selection on the back of the phone, but this time, the 48MP main sensor that was used on the Galaxy A51 has been swapped for a better & larger 64MP sensor, and even comes with OIS (Optical image stabilization), while the rest of the cameras stay the same with a 12MP ultra-wide, 5MP macro, and a second 5MP depth sensor.
And on the front, you still get the usual 32MP front-facing camera.
For performance, the Galaxy A52 is fitted with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor and runs Android 11 out of the box, and as with Samsung’s most recent flagships nowadays, this one too is liable to get up to 3 years of major software updates, meaning it should get the upcoming Android 12, 13, and 14 updates as far as 2024.
This is in a world where most other similar midrange phones from competing brands aren’t even guaranteed of getting one major Android version update, not to talk three.
Other new features you’ll get on the Galaxy A52 are the upgraded battery capacity and charging speed, all the way up from 4000 mAh on the A51 to 4500 mAh, and from 15W fast charging to 25W on the new phone, although, you only get a 15W charger in the box.
And you also get to enjoy a nice set of stereo speaker setup on it too.
In my opinion, personally, I think that at its current retailing price of ₦165,900 to 184,990 in Nigeria right now, the Samsung Galaxy A52 is undoubtedly one of the most feature-packed and uncompromised mid-range phones anyone can buy at the moment.
And yes, it has even more than what it takes to live up to and surpass the legacy that the Galaxy A51 left behind.
