The Infinix S4 is out, with Android 9.0 Pie + XOS 5 Cheetah out of the box, and today we’re gonna be showing you some cool tips and tricks that you can try on this smartphone.

And to start with, let us first of all list out some of the features of the Infinix Hot S4 that we’re gonna be talking about today, so you’ll get a clearer picture of what we’re about to do here.

1. Brand New Icons
Okay so as you already know at this time that the Infinix Hot S4 ships with Android Pie out of the box, and alongside it is a brand new and completely refreshed version of Infinix XOS, the XOS 5.0 Cheetah.
Now i said refreshed, because on this version, a lot of things have changed and quite a handful of new features were added (we’ll be coming to that soon).
And one of the very obvious places where you’ll begin to notice these changes immediately you turn on the device is on the icon and ui overall.
Personally i’ll say the icons now look flat, a bit more simple to the eyes and unified. So if you’re a fan of the Infinix XOS UI right from the days of XUI and XOS 2.0 Chameleon, then i bet you’re gonna love this one too, and it shouldn’t be hard getting used to since everything is pretty much the same way they used to be before, except for the obvious icon overhaul.
2. A New System Wide Dark Mode – Courtesy Of Android 9.0 Pie
Another great feature which you can find on the Infinix Hot S4 smart phone is the new support for Dark mode. Activating this feature will change your phone’s default theme color to black, which will come in very handy especially for those who use their smart phones for reading at night.
It is also another great way for saving some battery juice on your smart phone especially for devices with OLED displays, i don’t know if it works in the same way for LCD displays, but it is nice having it here after all, especially on an Infinix device such as the Hot S4.
3. Infinix S4 tips & tricks – XOS 5.0 Cheetah Smart Panel
Now in the simplest explanation possible, the Smart Panel is a quick way of launching and switching between different apps instead of launching them from your phone’s main app drawer, and you wouldn’t even have to leave your current app in other to do that, because the smart panel is present in whatever app or screen you’re looking at, unless you set it to do otherwise.
So let’s say you’re making use of an app such as Facebook, and you want to quickly see what’s going on Instagram, or WhatsApp, or any other app alike.
All you have do is swipe from the side of your screen to open Smart Panel, tap on the app you want to make use of, and that is it.
Personally, i will say Smart Panel is Infinix own take on Samsung’s Edge Panel. It contains a list of nine pre-selected apps, so when activated, there will be a rectangular or pill shaped button that sits vertically at the edge of your display, and all you have to do is swipe it from the side to the center of your display to open the Smart Panel, you will be given a familiar interface that looks like an app drawer, and that’s where you’re gonna see all the apps that you’ve selected to work with it.
You can have up to nine apps and three tools such as “Take a Screenshot“, “The Flashlight button“, “Turn on/off data” and so on.
So in this case, I’ll say it is a very welcome addition to the family of Infinix XOS apps, and a one that a lot of persons who are like me out there, are really gonna enjoy having on their smart phones.
4. New Gesture & Mixed Navigation – Based On Android Pie
So in addition to the new Gesture navigation that comes with Android 9.0 which is available on the Hot S4, there is a mixed navigation option that gives you that Google Pixel-like experience. Something like this.
So when activated, you’d get a pie shaped button at the middle that serves as a “Home” button, and as well as a “Back” button.
You also get your good old native three button navigation if that is your thing, and in addition to that, you are now given the option to interchange the positions of the “Recent apps” and “Back” button. Cool addition if you’d ask me.
5. Ability To Hide The Notch
On the Infinix Hot S4 you also get an option to hide the waterdrop notch if that is your thing. You already know how that works, so i’m not saying anything further on that. But for those who haven’t seen it on the Hot S4 before, here is what it looks like when you do so.
6. New AI Read Mode
The Hot S4 also has a new “Read mode” that is reminiscent of “Eye Care” that we already know, though Eye Care is still present, but while Eye Care is activated and the color temperature is adjusted manually, Read Mode is activated automatically as well as the color temperature, depending on the amount of light present in your environment, and you can as well set it to be activated automatically when you open some pre-selected apps.
Just take it as when the set the brightness slider on your smart phone to “Automatic“, so it works pretty much in the same way as your automatic brightness slider, but this one has to do specifically with your display’s color temperature.
7. Infinix S4 tips and tricks – Bike Mode
Nothing much to say here, when you set the Infinix Hot S4 to Bike Mode, which you can do quickly by pulling down the notifications quick toggle buttons.
The Bike Mode automatically rejects every incoming calls to the phone, while sending a message to the caller. So i guess a lot of people who engage in a lot of driving, biking and cycling will find this feature to be very useful.
8. Fast Data Switcher
The Hot S4 introduces a new way of switching data connection when you have two sim cards inserted on your phone.
So instead of the old, boring and long way of going into your phone settings, then selecting what sim you would like to use for data connection, all you have do is..
- Pull down the notifications quick toggles
- Tap and hold on the “Data toggle” button
- From there you’ll be given a option whether to use your first sim for data connection, or the second one.. Pretty quick right?
9. A New Way For Filtering Notifications
The Hot S4 can intelligently recognize and sort spam notifications that can be group into a single category and blocked at once.
10. AI Photo Grouping and Clean-up
The Hot S4 can automatically identify and group photos into three categories namely; Dark Pictures, Blurry Pictures and Similar Pictures, and you can delete them all at once.
