The Infinix Zero 5G was just announced today, being the 8th day of February 2022, and at a current retailing price of $300, which is the equivalent of ₦169,500 right here in Nigeria, the Infinix Zero 5G currently and proudly stands tall as the only Infinix phone on the market right now that supports 5G, and if you must know, the fastest Infinix smartphone that you can get your hands on right now, and that’s all thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G chipset that is being used here.

So, aside from the 5G capability that is the major hype and main selling point of this phone, what else does it have going on for it that will make anyone want to buy it in 2022?

Well, first of all, I must tell you that the Zero 5G is not a flagship smartphone, and neither is Infinix trying to sell it as one, so don’t go about comparing it to the likes of the Zero series, if you want a proper flagship phone from Infinix with proper flagship specs to go with it, then you have the Zero X and Zero X Pro phones for that.

So, what I’m trying to say here is, even if the MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G processor that is used here is miles ahead of the Helio G95 (6nm vs 12nm) that was used on the supposed flagship Zero X series, the Infinix Zero 5G still remains a mid-range phone, maybe an upper midrange at best, and I’ll tell you why I said that in a bit.

Compare now: MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G vs MediaTek Helio G95.

So, starting off with the display, the Infinix Zero 5G is fitted with a 6.78 inches sized LCD panel display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate. Sorry for those who were expecting OLED, but, like I told you, this is a mid-range device and not a flagship.

And moving away from the display, the Zero 5G looks very reminiscent of a flagship phone we used to know from a particular brand, especially from the camera bump.

Oh! Oppo Find X3 Pro, is that you? LOL.

So, in terms of looks, the Zero 5G is one hell of a good-looking and stunning smartphone, thanks to the unique camera bump, and I must say that I love how Infinix has managed to keep things simple and sleek with the triple camera arrangement, I mean, unlike the Infinix we used to know before, this arrangement here to me is not too clogged up, and there is the absence of those meaningless camera lenses we have come to get used to on midrange phones alike, like the macro lenses, and AI sensors.

So, speaking about the camera, there is a 48MP main camera which is followed closely by a 13MP telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom and can go up to 30x digitally, and lastly, is the 2MP depth sensor.

While on the front is a 16MP front-facing shooter. And for the video recording capabilities, the Zero 5G maxes out at a 4K resolution at 30 frames per second for the rear cameras, and 1080p at same 30 frames per second for the front-facing camera.

And moving away from the cameras, the phone comes running Android 11 out of the box with Infinix proprietary XOS 10 UI on top of it, and as we’ve come to know Infinix, nobody can tell for sure if this phone will be among those that will be getting upgraded to Android 12 this year or not, but all the same, fingers crossed.

And coming to the battery, the Infinix Zero 5G is fitted with a massive 5000 mAh capacity cell with up to 33W fast charging.

So, in conclusion, and like I already did mention earlier, for a current retailing price of ₦169,500 here in Nigeria, these are basically everything that you’ll stand to get on the Infinix Zero 5G if you were to purchase this phone today.
