Tecno announced the Camon 17 trio in the first half of this year, with the vanilla Camon 17 coming as the lesser phone among the three, and selling at a current retail price of ₦87,500 in Nigeria, here’s all you’ll get if you purchased the Tecno Camon 17 smartphone today.

So, to start with, on the Camon 17, you’ll get very similar specs and the same feature set as the other two higher-priced Camon smartphones.

You’ll be treated to a 720p 6.6 Inches IPS LCD display with a hole punch cutout to the left of it, and for those who don’t know, this phone is among the few Tecno smartphone for now that features the higher screen refresh rate handling, maxing out at 90Hz.

The phone uses a Mediatek Helio G85 mobile chipset which is the default processor choice used by Tecno on all its new Tecno Camon smartphones announced this year, and this chipset has proven its worth on many occasions and has even been shown to be on par with comparable Snapdragon processors like the Snapdragon 720G and 732G which can be found in more expensive smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy A52 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro phones.

The phone comes further equipped with 4 or 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB internal storage capacity, though most of the time, you’ll only find the 4GB RAM version available in stores.

So, in terms of performance, you should be getting very good performance with little to no lags depending on what you’re using the phone for.

For cameras, you’re getting a three-camera setup on the back, with a single 16MP sensor on the front, neatly tucked inside the hole punch cutout. And on the back, you’ll see a 48MP main sensor which is a deviation from the 64MP sensors used on the Camon 17P and 17 Pro models.

Aside from that, you also get a 2MP depth sensor and a third sensor which Tecno doesn’t specify what it does, and I doubt if it really matters in the final picture quality coming out from the Camon 17 smartphone.

The phone ships with Android 11 out of the box, and as expected, you also get the latest version of Tecno’s custom UI with it, the HiOS 7.6.

While keeping the lights on is a hefty 5000mAh capacity battery tank, you also get a generous amount of fast charging speed bundled along with it, and it’s capped at 18W.
