Until Apple announces the iPhone 14 series which is due to be in approximately two weeks to come, the iPhone 13 and every other phone in the iPhone 13 train still remains the best iPhones anyone can buy right now, and it makes sense that people are looking for cheaper ways, especially in this part of the world where Apple doesn’t the flexible means of acquiring their devices on loan as they do in some Western countries.
And as a top of the line Apple device, of course, all Apple phones have always been premium offerings, it comes with the best specs, features, and build quality you can get right now from an iPhone, and it doesn’t even make sense asking if this phone is worth buying in 2022, I mean, even in the next three years to come, this phone will still be worth buying.
So, on here, you’re getting a 6.1 inches display, it’s an OLED panel, and has all the fancy display features you’d come to expect from a flagship device in 2022, except for one, and that’s the high refresh rate feature, as the iPhone 13 is still stuck at the traditional 60Hz.
But high refresh rate aside, it’s got the fancy stuff like HDR10, Dolby Vision, and can get up to respectable levels of brightness, up to 1200 nits.
But moving away from the display, you’ve got the Apple A15 Bionic chipset running inside of this thing, supposedly the fastest and most efficient mobile chipset you can get in any smartphone right now, even rivalling the likes of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.

In terms of camera, well, there’s really nothing new or much to say here as Apple iPhones already has a legacy of some of the best cameras on any smartphone, so, it’s the same story with the iPhone 13, though one thing lacking here which I don’t think wouldn’t really discourage anyone from getting this phone if they’re already made up their mind on it is the absence of a telephoto camera sensor as that can only be found on the Pro models.
In terms of the battery, it’s got a reasonably sized 3240 mAh capacity cell, which thanks to power efficient A15 Bionic chipset, and Apple’s well optimized iOS software, the iPhone 13 even with a small battery still takes the lead among the longest lasting smartphones on a single charge.
So, should you buy this phone right now, considering the fact that the iPhone 14 is just two weeks away to be announced?
Well, it’s definitely a “Yes” for me, because, first of all, aside from the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series, the regualar models has been rumored to feature almost the same design and specs like the 13 series.
For instance, the iPhone 14 and 14 Max are rumored to come with the same processor (A15 Bionic) as the 13 series, while leaving the new A16 for the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
It’s also rumored that Apple will be using a new camera hardware on it’s new phones, supposedly a 48MP main sensor, but as suspected, that too will be limited to just the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
Moving further, remember I already mentioned that the iPhone 13’s display was stuck at a 60Hz refresh rate, well, that also seems to be true for the 14’s too.
So, if all of these rumors eventually turn out to be true, then that simply means there will be no significant difference between the iPhone 13 and 14, so, to me, it just makes sense to get the 13 instead, considering the fact that being one year old already, it’s should be now cheaper, especially if you’re going for the UK used one, and the iPhone 14 will supposedly be more expensive at launch.
