So, having seen the current retailing price of this phone here in Nigeria, now let’s see what you stand to get from it if you went for it right now, as opposed to its younger sibling, the vanilla S22, and even its elder sibling, the Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Overview
To kick things off, I will start by saying that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus is just the vanilla Galaxy S22 with a bigger screen (6.7 vs 6.1 inches), a bigger battery (4500 vs 3700 mAh), and faster charging (45W vs 25W).
Aside from those three factors, there is exactly nothing different between the two phones, which is a good thing if you asked me because it eliminates the need for you to have to choose between two phones because of their massive spec differences just as in the case of the Galaxy S22 Plus and the S22 Ultra. But in this case, you only have to choose between Galaxy S22 & S22 Plus based on size.
So, coming to the specs, it comes with a quite large 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate, and minimal and uniform bezels going around it to give it that premium look.
The “Dynamic” there means that the refresh rate can automatically drop down to as low as 10Hz and back to 120Hz, and this depends on what content is being shown on the display.
Moving further, the phone comes clad in Gorilla Glass Victus+ both on the front and back, and it has an aluminum frame, Armor aluminum according to Samsung, running circles around it to keep those two sheets of glass together and firm, and as expected of a flagship phone of its caliber, it’s rated IP68 for ingress protection against water and dust.
Like the vanilla Galaxy S22, the S22 Plus as well is easily one of the best-looking phones of 2022 both on the front and back, and that’s because it’s one of the three Android phones right now that has uniform bezels running around the screen, the first two are the Google Pixel 5 and 5a 5G.

It comes running Android 12 with One UI 4.1 out of the box, and going by Samsung’s committing to delivery major software updates to its for up to four years, this phone should be getting the Android 13, 14, 15, and even the Android 16 update, come 2026, making it and other major Samsung phones some of the most supported Android smartphones you can get at the moment.
