It is unfortunate to hear about Google’s U-turn on Chrome’s tracking cookies, which have previously sparked alarming headlines.
According to their latest announcement, the American company Google will not stop using their tracking cookies just yet.
Many internet users are aware of the tracking mechanisms used or allowed by Google. Some also know the kind of information Google and various websites covertly collect from their use of the internet.
Though the surface purpose of Google’s tracking cookies is to enable Google and others to give users personalized service, more has been done with the data Google collects. Moreover, how you use the internet is bound to change once you know you are being monitored and studied by some Big Brother company.

Apple Inc. and another group called EFF have criticized Google’s tracking cookies, with EFF stating that, “Third-party cookies were once the most common form of online tracking technology, but major browsers, like Safari and Firefox, started blocking them several years ago.”
Google’s reluctance to follow suit borders on the financial downsides of such a decision. Its browser, Chrome, is used by more than 3 billion people around the world, and the company makes lots of money from that through advertising. To advertise what you want, they need access to data collected from behavioral tracking.
Google’s Potential Alternatives to Tracking Cookies
Regulators and Google have not yet decided on the removal of Google’s tracking cookies. Are there possible alternatives that Google might suggest to Chrome users?
There is Google’s semi-private browsing that gives less protection from tracking cookies compared to a good VPN. Additionally, you can go over to your Google Chrome settings and disable third-party cookies, location tracking, personalized services, and more. This action will provide some help, even if it’s little.
Google’s U-turn on Chrome’s tracking cookies could be seen as a sign of how improbable it is for their future decision to be favorable.
