Best Tecno phones 2020

The Tecno Camon 15 Pro, as at the time of writing this article, happened to be not just the best, but as well the latest Tecno phone that you can get your hands on right now.

Barging in with a screen size of 6.53 Inches, it happens to be one among the few largest displays that you can get on a Tecno smartphone right now, after its younger sibling, the Tecno Camon 15, coming in at a slightly larger 6.55 Inches display.

But aside from display sizes, it happens to be one once again, among the few Tecno smartphones to flaunt a 1080p (Full HD+) resolution. And it doesn’t stop there.

This smartphone, also happens to be the first and only Tecno smartphone as at the time of writing this article, to come with a motorized pop-up front facing camera, meaning that the display is not just large, but it is also void of any notches or front facing camera punch holes, giving you a true full-view viewing experience.

And it still doesn’t stop there. This smartphone, also happens to be the first Tecno smartphone to run Android 10, alongside Tecno’s latest version of its iconic HiOS UI, the Tecno HiOS 6.0, out of the box.

In addition to all these, this phone comes wielding a quad camera system on its rear, with a 48MP lens as its primary lens, in addition to a 32MP front facing lens.

It also comes wielding a pretty large 4000mAh battery, which to me, is still pretty acceptable, considering the fact that I’ve used quite a handful of 4000mAh battery smartphones, and they never disappointed.

And finally in terms of performance, you’re getting a Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and a massive 128GB of storage, which makes it on par with the flagship tagged Tecno Phantom 9 smartphone.

So in conclusion, if you’d ask me who the Tecno Camon 15 Pro is meant for, I’ll reply by saying that it is meant for those who wants every good thing that a Tecno smartphone can offer, both in terms of design, display, cameras, performance, and maybe battery, not minding what it would cost you in terms of price.

Phantom 9 6.4 Inches Diaplay

Was tagged and marketed as a flagship phone, but to me I’ll say that this is one of the biggest Tecno smartphone fails of all time. You can read our full review of it here, to see why we speak so ill of it.

It was the biggest Tecno smartphone fail of all time, not because of the spec, but simply because it didn’t meet up to what we were expecting from a flagship Tecno device, but still, it doesn’t make it any less good among the best Tecno phones that you can literally get your hands on right now.

Coming in with a 6.39 Inches Full HD+ “AMOLED” Display, making it one among the slight growing number of Tecno smartphones, to flaunt an OLED display.

In addition to that, it also happens to be one amongst the only two Tecno smartphones to flaunt an under-display fingerprint reader. And just like the Tecno Camon 15 Pro after it, this one also ships with the same Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 processor, alongside same 6GB of RAM and a 128GB of storage.

But unlike the Camon 15 Pro this time, it comes with a triple rear camera setup, with a 16MP lens as its primary camera, alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

And then at the front is the same 32MP lens found on the Camon 15 Pro, only difference is that this one is not housed in a motorized pop-up mechanism, but in what Tecno refers to as a water-drop notch instead.

The Tecno Phantom 9 ships with Android 9.0 Pie + HiOS 5.0 out of the box, with no hopes of ever getting updated to Android 10, ever. All thanks to Tecno and their habit of not ever updating any of their smartphones.

Who is the Tecno Camon 12 Pro meant for?

Simple.. The Camon 12 Pro is meant for those who love everything about the Phantom 9, both in terms of its design, camera setup, AMOLED display, under-display fingerprint reader, etc, but can’t spend up to a 70,000+ Naira on a smartphone.

The Camon 12 Pro is just a rebranded Phantom 9, with their only differences being the toned down display resolution from 1080p to 720p on the 12 Pro, as well the Helio P22 chipset used on the Camon 12 Pro, as opposed to the Helio P35 that is being used on the Tecno Phantom 9. And then their prices as well.

As you already saw from the list above, the Camon 12 Pro costs a lot of thousand naira(s) lesser, than the Phantom 9, 63,550 Naira to be precise, and you can get it when you click here.

Best Tecno Phones 2020

The tecno Pouvoir lineups have always been known as Tecno’s battery centric smartphones, just as the Camon lineups are known as camera centric smartphones, and the Pouvoir 4 Pro is not ready to give up that title anytime soon.

Barging in with a humongous 7″ Inches display, probably the largest that you can get on a Tecno smartphone as the time of writing this article, a 16MP Quad camera setup, same as the camera centric Camon 12 Pro from last year, even shipping with same Mediatek Helio P22 chipset, and even with up to 6GB of RAM and an enormous 128GB of storage, i will say that this is smartphone that checks all of the necessary boxes.

And it still doesn’t even stop there, in addition to all those mad specs, for once in their life, Tecno thought it useful that they’d include 18W fast charging and a stereo speaker setup on this phone, then powering everything under the hood is a beefy 6000mAh battery.

Now that brings us back to the question of; who is the Tecno Pouvoir 4 Pro meant for?

Simple.. It is simply meant for people who enjoy prolonged use of their smartphones without worrying about battery life. Secondly it is meant for chronic heavy media consumers, cause of its larger than normal display, and its stereo speakers as well.

So if you’re looking for something that you can convert to a mini home cinema, and at the same time, will fit nicely into your pocket or purse, then the Pouvoir 4 Pro is the only Tecno phone as at the time of writing this article, that can help you attain that feat.

The Tecno Pouvoir 4 Pro is currently sold for 63,300 Naira on Jumia online store, and you can get it when you click here..

Tecno Camon 15

  • Launched, Feb. 2020.
  • 6.55 Inches 720p IPS LCD Display.
  • 48MP Quad rear camera setup.
  • 16MP front facing camera.
  • Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 Processor.
  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
  • Android 10 + HiOS 6.0
  • 5000mAh battery.
  • Price – 69,490 NGN.

Though we’ve not talked about the regular Tecno Camon 12 smartphone, but the Camon 15, is for those who love the regular Camon 12 smartphone, but feels like the android 9.0 Pie version that it comes with, is already outdated, and its 16MP camera, is not enough for them.

So coming in with Android 10 version + HiOS 6.0 out of the box like its bigger sibling, the Camon 15 Pro, it is also carrying the same 48MP Quad camera setup as the 15 Pro.

And like the Camon 12 from last year, it also ships with a Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of storage.

So on a very good day, the Camon 15 will give you a lag free, seamless performance for an average user, and the camera prowess is unmatched just as it is on its Pro model.

And lest i forget, did i also mention that it comes wielding a humongous 5000mAh battery, giving you one of the best battery performances that you can get on a Tecno smartphone right now, after the Pouvoir series.

Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus

  • 13MP Triple rear camera setup.
  • 13MP front facing camera.
  • Mediatek MT6762 Helio P22 Processor.
  • 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
  • Android 9 + HiOS 5.0
  • 6000mAh battery.
  • Price – 56,000 Naira.

With less than 60,000 Naira, you can get what i call both the Tecno Phantom 9 and Camon 12 Pro, in one package. Reason is because, you’re getting the same 6″+ AMOLED display, same as the Phantom 9 and Camon 12 Pro, the same Helio P22 chipset as the 12 Pro, 4GB or 3GB of RAM, coupled with a 32GB or 64GB of storage.

And guess what, it even comes with way more larger battery, as opposed to its counterparts, making it the one among the few Tecno smartphones with up to 6000mAh of battery, and what does this mean? Long hours of media consumption, gaming, browsing, texting, etc.

So who is this phone meant for? It is simply meant for persons who love the AMOLED displays on the Tecno Phantom 9 and Camon 12 Pro, but can’t spend up to a 60 – 70k on a smartphone, with the only missing features being the lack of an under-display fingerprint reader, and its slightly downgraded rear and front facing cameras.

The Tecno Pouvoir 3 Plus is currently on sale on all major and official Tecno stores worldwide, both offline and online, and you can get it from Jumia, when you click here.

  • Android 9 + HiOS 5.5
  • 4000mAh battery.
  • Price – 59,990 Naira.

Though not AMOLED, but the display on the vanilla Tecno Camon 12 is pretty large, peaking at 6.52 Inches, making it one of the few Tecno smartphones with above 6.5″ display.

It is a little more expensive than the Pouvoir 3 Plus, with an even -2000mAh battery, but what it lacked in battery, it made up for it in cameras.

So while the Pouvoir 3 Plus was busy flexing a 13MP triple rear camera, the Camon 12 comes wielding a 16MP one, and since this is a Camon lineup smartphone, you shouldn’t be expecting less when it comes to photo qualities.

So who is the Tecno Camon 12 meant for? It is meant for those who love their phone displays very large, as well as those who like the Tecno Camon 12 Pro, can’t afford up to 60k for a smartphone, but still want something very close to the 12 Pro in terms of camera

The Tecno Camon 12 is currently on sale for 59,990 Naira, and you can get it from Jumia, when you click here.
