Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Complete Indepth Review – Worth The Hype?

After the disappointment that was the Redmi Note 6 Pro Xiaomi recently unveiled the Redmi Note 7.. So well, what are we waiting for? let us take a look at the brand new Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 smart phone.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 review

Well so unlike the Redmi Note 6 Pro, this is a phone that brings some new major upgrades with it, there’s a lot of changes it brings, but right off the bat, let me just say that this is a striking looking smartphone.

It is honestly stunning and is without a doubt the best good looking smartphone in the Xiaomi Redmi Note series so far.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 beautiful design

Gone is the huge notch that forever tormented the Redmi Note 6 Pro, the dull metal design, and the bad looking antenna lines.

The Redmi Note 7 has a new teardrop notch, a glass back, and a trendy gradient finish, all of which adds up together, to give the phone a very premium look.

Just look at it next to the Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Mi 8, the Note 7 is in a different league altogether when it comes to looks.

It just shines through with its gradient rear back glass, if you know what i mean.

Anyways, along with the new glass back, the new teardrop notch which i already mentioned, makes it less intrusive than the other notches, and while the bottom bezel isn’t still as thin as what you’d get on say a smart phone like the new Mi Mix 3, i must say i still like the front of the Redmi Note 7, and the new notch means the display is even bigger.

The Note 7 has a 6.3 Inch IPS LCD Corning Gorilla glass 5 display, with resolutions locked at Full HD+, which seemingly translates to a 2340 ร— 1080p.

Great display if you’d ask me. It is crisp, clear, bright, colors are good and perfectly saturated.

So yes, the design on the new Redmi Note 7 works great, and its not like it sacrifices or compromises anything at all.

There’s a fast fingerprint reader at the back, an IR blaster and a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top, a tiny notification LED at the bottom on the front.

.. and look what we have here, a USB Type-C charging port.. Yay..

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 USB Type-C charging port

Yes there’s finally a USB-C port on a Xiaomi Redmi phone after all these years. This in itself, is a big massive and positive upgrade for the Redmi series.

And secondly, well, while there’s really no IP rating for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, Xiaomi’s CEO, “Lei Jun” , recently revealed that the design here, have water tight seals for the buttons, the USB-C port, the Sim Tray, and the 3.5mm headphone jack.

So looking at it literally, we can partially say it should be fairly water resistant after all.. Like we splashed some water on it, and it was fine, so i guess it should be fine.. Right..? ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜

Okay so that’s for the changes in design of the Note 7 Pro, and moving on to another major change, and that’s for the cameras.

The Redmi Note 7 packs a massive 48MP F/1.8 Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor, alongside a 5MP F/2.4 Depth Sensor.

So far so good, pictures taken with these cameras are pretty impressive both with the normal shots and portrait mode photos. Take a look.

The pictures have great detail, and i definitely like them. And when compared a few shots with the Redmi Note 6 Pro, you can see that the difference is clear. Colors and details on the Redmi Note 7 are a lot better.

NOW A QUICK NOTE – The Note 7 in auto mode takes just 12MP photos, but you can shoot 48MP photos using Pro mode. The Redmi Note 7 does not record videos in 4K, but it supports 1080p@60fps and 1080p@120fps, so that’s still a pretty nice bargain if you’d ask me.

Alright so that’s all for the rear cameras, now let’s on to see what we have here for the front facing cameras, and i’ll say, there’s a little bit of a downgrade here.

There’s no dual cameras here of cause, but the Note 7 comes with a 13MP F/2.0 camera which does seem like a downgrade from the Note 6 Pro’s 20MP front facing camera.

Having said that, i’d say that selfies shot with the 13MP lens really nice for sure, and maybe slightly better than what you’d get on the Note 6 Pro, but in some cases, pictures seem to be a slightly bit over exposed.

So well, there you have it. But overall, the cameras on the Redmi Note 7, especially the 48MP sensor seems gangster to me, but its still early days and we’re still testing things out.. We’ll see how it’ll perform in coming days.

Anyways, in terms of power and hardware, the Redmi Note 7 still manages to bring some major upgrades under the hood.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor, and you get to choose either the 4GB or 6GB RAM variants, with a 64GB internal storage.

Right here we have the 6GB RAM variant, and below is a lil comparison of the benchmark score from the Redmi Note 7 and the Asus Max Pro M2, alongside the Realme 2 Pro all powered by the same Chipset, and as you can see for yourself, the difference is clear once again.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 benchmark score

So benchmark scores have been good, and when it comes to real world performance also, which is in terms of day to day usage and playing games, i would say the Redmi Note 7 wouldn’t give you any issues at all..

I mean if the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Note 6 Pro are good, then you should be expecting a better performance on the Note 7. . right?.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 real life and gaming performance

In terms of battery, you’re getting a pretty large 4000mAh power battery andย  has support for fast charging with its new 18W charger.

Anyways, when it comes to software, the Note 7 ships with MIUI 10 out of the box which is based on Android 9.0 Pie.

Its still same MIUI we used to know with all the necessary features you need bundled with it, so i wouldn’t be going deep into it.

If you’ve been using Xiaomi phones and you’re used to MIUI, then the MIUI 10 shouldn’t seem like anything extraordinary to you.

There’s face unlock which works really well and pretty fast, and there are also the MIUI gesture navigation which i personally prefer to that of the native Android Pie’s own.

Alright guys, so we’ll be dropping our pen here right now, but anyways that is our own take on the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 smart phone, and honestly i must confess that this phone has really impressed me so far, and for one thing, i really think that this should have been the Redmi Note 6 or the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

It just looks like Xiaomi really upped their games after seeing the disappointing responses to the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

Just think about this; a premium glass design, gradient color finish, a new teardrop notch display, 48MP camera, a Snapdragon 660 processor, what more could you ask for?

And mind you, this is just the standard Redmi Note 7, the Note 7 Pro variant is said to come with an even faster Snapdragon 675 processor, and a better Sony IMX 586 48MP sensor. So its clear that the Redmi Note series is back and better. #Cheers..

But i can assure you that you can never make the wrong choice when it comes the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro.

The Redmi Note 7 series were the best midrange phones that you could get your hands on as of last year..

And in this year, the Note 8 series are taking that crown once again..
